Luis Fitch Receives ArtCenter College of Design Alumni Award for Outstanding Service.
Artist, designer, and cultural educator Luis Fitch has been honored with the ArtCenter College of Design Alumni Award for Outstanding Service. The award recognizes Fitch’s decades-long dedication to using art and design as powerful tools for cultural connection, education, and social change.
A proud 1990 graduate of ArtCenter College of Design, Fitch has become an influential figure in multicultural branding, public art, and community-based design. Through his Minneapolis-based studio UNO Branding, he has collaborated with major institutions such as Target, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Smithsonian Institution, while continually elevating Latinx voices and stories through his creative work.
Beyond commercial success, Fitch’s practice bridges art and activism. His Urban Art Village project on East Lake Street, Minneapolis, his Free Workshops for underrepresented artists, and public sculptures like “Wings of Resilience” embody his belief that art should live outside galleries and within the everyday lives of people.
“ArtCenter shaped the foundation of who I am as an artist and a thinker,” said Fitch. “Receiving this recognition from my alma mater is deeply meaningful — it honors not only my journey, but the communities that continue to inspire my work.”
The Outstanding Service Award celebrates alums who have made a lasting and meaningful impact through leadership, mentorship, and community engagement. Fitch joins a distinguished group of ArtCenter alumni whose careers reflect the school’s mission to make a positive impact through creativity and innovation.
