Product development for Mervyn's La Plaza hispanic celebration

Celebrating Mexican culture.

Client

Mervyn’s

Mervyn’s was an American middle-scale department store chain based in Hayward, California, and founded by Mervin G. Morris. It carried national brands of clothing, footwear, bedding, bath products, furniture, jewelry, beauty products, electronics, toys, and housewares.

The Project

Mervyn’s needed event branding communications for their upcoming La Plaza “Celebration of Mexican Handcrafts, Music, and Food.” The event was a weekend-long cultural affair in an environment designed to replicate an “old town Mexican square.”

Services

Event branding and print communications.

The Solution

We designed all the events communications in the style of 1910s Mexican graphics. Bold and artsy hand-drawn images blended with oversized lettering on a backdrop of sepia tones to make the limited color printing letters and the images stand out.
